Latest Updates from Our Project:

Digital Rollout Begins
over 4 years ago – Wed, Apr 08, 2020 at 03:44:33 AM

OK folks as promised I'm going to begin to release digital products. I'm starting with 2 releases today that you can get through your BackerKit account. If you have any problems with the files, please DM me through Kickstarter.

The Grande Temple of Jing Suite by Erdenstern. This piece of music is 16+ minutes long and is a musical introduction to the grand temple. This is the original piece written for the first project but the music is timeless and amazing. Put it on loop or mix it in with your favorite fantasy pieces and you won't be disappointed.

The Mini Screen Insert PDF. This 27 page document contains the front and backs of the 12 cards in the set, as well as a sheet of instructions and the mandatory OGL. If you purchased the DM Toolbox PRINTED, then you'll get these cards as laminated postcards that will slide right into your screen. But if you can't wait for that, you can print these in the meantime. These cards are completely crammed with information to help you run the temple. That said these are aids - they are NOT required to play the Grand Temple of Jing.

A Final Note

As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on the economy and our supply chains, I'll continue to release digital content. Some of you will ask me to release the entire book which I'll consider doing if our delays keep stretching out. Otherwise I ask that you please be kind and consider the overarching needs of Hammerdogs business partners (specifically our retailers). They are more vulnerable now than ever, and releasing the PDF too far in advance of the book will have the unfortunate effect of devaluing the book which will just hurt them more. So we'll ride out April and see what happens. In the meantime we'll keep the content coming so you always feel connected to the project.

Stay safe folks,

Danny

Let's Look at the Miniatures!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Apr 07, 2020 at 03:45:36 AM

Hello everybody! I hope this update finds you well in these stressful times.

For those of you who purchased miniatures, here is a sneak peek at 90% of the set. They are amazing! Trenchworx did an outstanding job, as did our sculptors, Chris at Mad Imp Studios, and John Popson at Effincool Miniatures. This is an amazing set that is sure to please the backers that supported it.

FYI this update was supposed to come out Wednesday but I've been having massive difficulties with uploading files. During the process I even managed to corrupt a video somehow. As a result, I had to do a reshoot, so the last video is a bit out of sequence. Also as a result of the delay, there will be a 2nd update coming out right on top of this one.

Enjoy!

Danny

Getting Closer but COVID is in our way
over 4 years ago – Mon, Mar 30, 2020 at 10:09:55 PM

Hello folks!

Now that we've heard that the USA is going to be on lockdown through April, we can assume we won't see the book for some time yet. First COVID hit China where the factory is located that is printing Jing. When it prints there is no way for me to receive it until the US economy opens back up. And of course when it finally moves it's going to be part of a logjam of products and it's hard to imagine Hammerdog having the clout or economic power to move it closer to the front of the line. So...we continue to wait. But that's it for negative news and I'm sure it's as unsurprising as it is irritating. But all the rest of the news is good. So let's have a look!

The Rollout Shall Begin

As mentioned last update, come April 1st I'll start to release electronic materials. I'm actually a few days behind on my timeline currently and may not make that exact date. But by the end of the week you should have some more assets in your hand to play with. Electronic items will distribute through BackerKit, except for the "PDF for Hungry DMs" which will go through DriveThru. Of course the final PDF will go through BackerKit.

The Miniatures are Nigh

I have received photos of the first prints of the miniatures and will have them in hand Wednesday (I'll post pics). After I approve them, Trenchworx will run the job, and they anticipate me having the minis within a few weeks. Exciting stuff! (IIRC Trenchworx makes plastic items for the medical community and thus has been permitted to stay open). When I get them I will *immediately* be looking for someone to paint a set for me. If you have skills in this area, please contact me via PM. I need minis for the various conventions that I do, and even a bit for online play.

Jing at Virtual GaryCon

This past weekend I hosted 2 games of "The Tower of Jing" at Virtual GaryCon. Using Fantasy Grounds I took 2 separate groups into the temple/tower and did my best to rain damage and strife upon them. Unfortunately, the heroes won, with group #2 vanquishing a young green dragon to earn their escape. It's not often that groups survive the Tower of Jing, but this one did.

Let's Play Some Jing!

During these unprecedented times there is only one thing we can do. PLAY!!! In the month of April I'm going to set up some online games and will let you know when they are going to happen. I'll DM groups in Fantasy Grounds and we'll just have fun romping through the temple and discovering it's wonders. If you are interested, stay tuned here, or on Facebook and Twitter.

If *ANYBODY* would like to DM Jing online during April I ask that you please join me. I can give you content to run and try to set you up with a group. I'd ask for now that we stick to Fantasy Grounds but if you are a Roll 20 DM and are willing to set things up yourself, I'll work with you. It's all about getting people playing and sharing their stories from the temple.

And in Closing

Folks we are truly facing what is so far, the greatest challenge of our generation. The weeks ahead are going to be enormously difficult for a lot of people, and stress is going to increase day-by-day. We truly need to stick together during these Strange Days if we are to survive so the #1 rule until we've beaten Covid 19 is "Be good to each other." If you need help, make sure you ask your family, friends, and community for that help. And by all means if you can provide help, please do. Take care of yourself, take care of your loved ones, and fight this fight with everything you've got. Heroes are not always the ones swinging the sword or shooting the fireball. Sometimes they are the ones that stay home, out of sight, and do what it takes to prevent pandemic.

All my best,

Danny

Getting There...
over 4 years ago – Thu, Feb 20, 2020 at 02:56:56 PM

For those of you that were following in the general comments, I've been saying that an update would come when I got feedback from my partners. But holy smokes they are busy and the feedback is just not coming fast enough. I don’t want to wait any longer so I’m going with what I’ve got. Here’s the latest on our project.

The Printed Book

It devastates me to say that the printed book continues to be delayed because of the same issues I mentioned in my last update. It’s still a couple of months out folks. I really can’t express enough how sorry I am for things dragging on like this. As the creator of this project I consider these delays unacceptable and I want you to know that I take full responsibility for them. I strive to do better than this but a couple of decisions I made early in the project just kept coming back and slowly stretching out the timeline. I can't express enough how sorry I am for this.

As I’ve mentioned before, I know that for a lot of you, delays are old hat with Kickstarters. But for others, your investment was a significant portion of your hobby money, and/or your plans were to be playing the book by now. So here’s what I’d like to do to help soothe the pain of this final delay.

This weekend I’m going to update the PDF for Hungry DMs to include everything through Grande Level 4. Anyone can ask for this at any time and I’ll shoot them a copy. Just PM me on Kickstarter to get it. That’s a solid 18 levels of goodness for your players to plunder.

On March 1st I will turn off BackerKit and charge cards. On April 1st, regardless of fulfillment of physical product, I’ll begin to distribute digital content. I might not distribute the entire digital book at this time, because I have to balance this with the need to have a proper release in stores and on DriveThru. But otherwise I’ll put out the Player’s Guide, the DM Toolbox, the Player Friendly Maps, and so on. I really REALLY want to get things into your hands so that you can play with this product and start creating stories with it.

The Miniatures

I was hoping to get a bigger update from Trenchworx and a timeline to share but they are super slam busy these days. That’s truly a mark of their popularity and excellence and I don’t mind the wait, especially since we are still waiting on the book. But they sent me the pictures below a bit ago and it’s making me crazy to see more. Look at the detail on these! Those of you who grabbed the miniatures will be super happy you did.

OK that's it for now. Again I am truly truly sorry for the continued delay on the book. But please don't worry. We'll get there.

Happy New Year From the Grande Temple/Denoa Kickstarter Launched
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Jan 01, 2020 at 11:04:35 AM

Happy New Year Everybody! May this year bring you joy, happiness, wealth, love, or anything else you are working towards.

Denoa

I wanted to take a quick moment to point you at my newest project, Denoa: World of Adventure. Denoa is the world where Jing is from, and where he placed his temple. Jing is a major deity on that world and he (and his temple) will play a part in the story we are telling. The project features several innovations in the RPG Tabletop experience including a dedicated App with several functions, Enhanced Organized Play, and Story Capsules.

You can find more information here - Denoa: World of Adventure.

BackerKit Charges

I had some folks ask me to delay these charges due to the holidays and I agreed. I'll charge cards in the next few days. Please be aware. That said, if more people step forward I can delay these charges until closer to shipping. Please LMK if you want me to delay further.

Thanks everyone! And again, Happy New Year!

All my best,

Danny
